About the project
Biosphere Collective is a Czech association based in Pilsen - a collective of friends who joined forces to protect nature and to teach why it matters. They connect people who want to live responsibly and build working projects together with local organisations.
At the heart of their work is education of children and adults, plus mentoring of small local non-profits that want to grow their community but lack funding and know-how. Besides money they bring direct action and presence on the ground.
Their projects run in Indonesia - on Sumatra and in the Pulau Banyak archipelago, a country holding some of the richest biodiversity on Earth.

What the project does
Blue Coral
Protecting the Pulau Banyak archipelago off Sumatra. In Ujung Sialit village on Tuangku island they support the school and children through the local organisation Yayasan Ujung Sialit Belajar - teaching English and ecology, preparing materials and cleaning plastic off the beaches. The volunteer base is on Sikandang island.
Simply Horas Education
An education programme for children from farming families in Bukit Lawang, Sumatra, led by Lenka, who has been returning to Sumatra for more than ten years.
Mentoring local organisations
They give small non-profits know-how, funding and people on the ground so they can grow and have real impact.
Education and awareness
Environmental education for children and adults, volunteering, and connecting partners interested in sustainable living.
