A Czech non-profit organization founded in 2017 by marine biologist Hana Vašina Svobodová. It protects sea turtle nesting sites at 6 locations in Indonesia and 3 locations in southern Sri Lanka. Together, 5 of the 7 world species of sea turtles lay eggs there.
Sea turtles have been on Earth for over 110 million years. Today they face extinction — their populations have declined by more than 90% in some places over the past 70 years. People steal turtle eggs from beaches and sell them to restaurants for tourists, or tear off turtles shells alive to make souvenirs.
Conservationists move eggs to safety and release the baby turtles into the sea immediately after hatching. They cooperate with the Indonesian and Sri Lankan governments, universities, indigenous communities, and volunteers. In the Czech Republic, they raise awareness about sea turtles — organizing lectures in schools, concerts, exhibitions, and promoting responsible travel.
We guard beaches against poachers and move eggs to safety.
Right after hatching, we release the babies into the sea.
We teach kids about the sea, nature, English and waste management.
Workshops where locals craft souvenirs from coconut instead of turtle shell.
All direct support of the project goes through the organization's official website.
Write to us and we will get back to you with an offer.
